Australia has a well-established eye care system, yet over the years we heard something surprisingly often from Korean customers living in Brisbane: despite having access to quality eye care and private health insurance, they sometimes struggled to find glasses that felt as comfortable and carefully tailored as the ones they had experienced in Korea.
For us, this was more than a simple frustration.
Having worked with eyewear since 2000, we wondered whether the experience and craftsmanship we had built over the years could bring that same sense of comfort, precision and personal attention to Brisbane. And we saw an opportunity to do something more — to bring together the clinical standards of Australian optometry with the detailed approach to vision and eyewear we had developed through our Korean optical experience.
That idea became IHOLICS in December 2022.

Since then, one belief has become even clearer to us: Truly comfortable glasses are never the result of just one thing.
An accurate prescription matters, but so does the way your two eyes work together, how you have adapted to your previous glasses, what you do throughout the day, and what you expect from your vision.
The frame matters too — its size, material, balance and position on your face. So does the lens design, its precise measurements, how the lenses are finished and fitted, and the final adjustments made once the glasses are on your face.

Every detail is connected. That is why we do not see an eye examination, eyewear selection and spectacle making as separate services.

At IHOLICS, we bring them together as one considered process — from precision vision assessment and personalised optical consultation to eyewear styling, lens selection, in-house lens finishing, professional fitting and ongoing adjustments.
Our aim is simple: to understand your eyes, understand how you live, and create eyewear that feels right for you.

From Our Beginning to What Comes Next

IHOLICS began with a desire to provide Brisbane’s Korean community with the level of comfort, detail and optical care they had been looking for. But as IHOLICS grew, so did the people who came through our doors.
We began meeting customers from many different backgrounds, and their response to the care we put into our examinations, eyewear and fitting made us realise something important:

Comfort, precision and genuinely personal care have no language or cultural boundary. Today, our vision extends well beyond where we began. We want to bring together the experience we have built since 2000, the clinical foundation of Australian optometry and the precision craftsmanship that defines IHOLICS to provide a more considered Optometry and Eyewear experience for everyone in Brisbane.
